Fight the Hate is a
collaboration of churches and nonprofits that seeks to engage youth and young
adults in and around the Bay Area, in purposeful, relevant, and consistent
outreach. Our objective as change-makers is to implement innovative and
sustainable solutions to the social problems observed in underserved
communities.
We strive to bring a
message of hope and healing as defined in Isaiah 58 as we address systemic
injustice, food security and provide resources for the unsheltered and other
vulnerable groups.” In doing so, we aim to restore the imbalance we see in
human relationships with the hope of healing our land, one community at a
time.
Mission Statement
We believe that there
must be a resurgence of uncompromising truth mingled with the action of love. We
believe that Bible contains a special message that provides the only remedy for
the escalating volatility and injustice in our world. It is our mission to
share the gospel message of Jesus and his love through outreach and service as
we fight the hate.
Target audience
The objective of this project is to attract, engage and retain a
diverse community of SDA and non SDA young people, predominantly from, but not
limited to within the Bay Area. By engaging young people in relevant and
purposeful ministry and outreach. This community will include youth and young
adults from across the social and cultural spectrum, including those from low
income families and diverse urban communities, that may find themselves
excluded from Adventist private
education and conference led initiatives, due to financial constraints
or cultural barriers. Part of our objective is to provide a safe non judgmental
space of love and acceptance for young people who are not Christians but are
seeking answers and looking for purpose in their lives. We also provide a safe
space for those who have become disillusioned with ‘church life’ and have left the church.
Ministry objectives
FTH will to continue its pursuit into
secular spaces, where we can create partnerships with external organizations
and continue to
create opportunities to interface with community leaders. It is our intention
to expand the ministry goals so we can remain relevant as we give focus not
only to the spiritual and social needs of our young people, but to also to the
spiritual and social needs of our communities at large. Our intention is to be
transparent as we address sensitive yet relative topics that affect the lives
of young people both in our churches and communities.
MENTORING & TRAINING
Intentional opportunities for
regular mentoring and training are implemented to develop both their gifts and
their faith and to prepare young people to become spiritual leaders. This will take
place through one-to-one and group mentoring sessions. Young people will be
given the opportunity to lead out in Bible studies, vespers, youth and young
adult rallies/days. FTH leader will be encouraged to model Christ like
leadership that is inclusive, promotes horizontal communication, authenticity,
transparency, unconditional love and acceptance.
Our plan in
2020 is to continue to organize community
seminars, workshops, rallies and monthly church based programs that raise
awareness and address the injustices in our communities and our world. Alongside
this we continue to create opportunities for regular, relevant and purposeful outreach programs in areas such as homeless ministry,
vulnerable groups, crisis and disaster relief. By engaging young people in these methods of service and outreach
which are unique to the times in which we live, we will seek to fulfill the
spiritual, social and emotional needs that young people have which is to both
see and experience the relevancy of the gospel message.
JOIN THE MOVEMENT
Our world is growing
increasingly volatile. Hatred has become the dominant source of energy. Hatred fuels crime and violence, oppression
and discrimination. Hatred leads to abuse and domestic violence. It’s
the cause of suffering and injustice. FTH is a collaboration of Seventh-day
Adventist youth and young adults from in and around the Bay Area who are
committed to responding to the injustices in our communities and in our world
that are caused by hate.
FTH encourages its leaders
and members to adopt a Christ like approach to ministry that is based on inclusion, promotes horizontal communication, authenticity,
transparency, unconditional love and acceptance.
